SCFC teams head into State tournament playoffs
Kudos to Coach Ray Johnson and SCFC '98 Blue who made it to the quarter-finals of the 2010 WYS BU-11 Commissioners' Cup before falling to a strong squad from FPSC Fury. And we wish our Coach George Czarnowski Jr and his SCFC '92 Crew team the best as they head into the quarter-finals of the 2010 WYS BU-17 Challenge Cup.
SCFC Teams Lead League Standings
Congratulations to our teams who achieved high league standings during the Fall 2009 State League season. SCFC '91 Arsenal won first place, '91 Ice and '93 Fury took second place, and '95 Blue achieved third place in their respective state league divisions. Great job, boys, and good luck in the State Cup tournaments!
SCFC '93 are Pacific Coast Challenge Finalists
Great work by Coach Jimmy Dunn and his SCFC '93 Fury team, who achieved second place after facing very tough competition at the 2009 Pacific Coast Challenge in Bellingham, WA. The PCC is one of the top boys soccer tournaments in the state, and a great venue for the best teams to get prepared for their fall league seasons. Congratulations, Fury!
Bigfoot honors for SCFC '92 Advantage
Congratulations to Coaches Jeff Foster, Bart Perman, Lenny LaRosa and the '92 Advantage boys who worked hard to take second place in the BU17 age bracket at the 2009 Bigfoot tournament at Stocker Fields in Snohomish.
Advantage, SCFC!
U-18 Boys get to Denver Cup Finals
Congratulations to Coach Daryl Green and SCFC '91 Arsenal, who beat tough teams from Arizona and Colorado in the 2009 Colorado Rush Denver Cup before falling to fellow Washington State team Snohomish United and taking second place. The Denver Cup is held at the Colorado Rapids soccer facility in the Denver metro area and attracts top teams from all the western states. Great job SCFC!
Federal Way BlastOff Success for SCFC teams
Congratulations to Coach Gerald Carell and SCFC '91 Ice for winning the 2009 Federal Way BlastOff tournament BU-18 Championship. Congratulations also to Coach Paul Czarnowski and SCFC '95 White (pictured at left) who were BU-14 champions, and to Coach Jeff Scully and SCFC '96 Blue who won second place in the BU-13 age group. Three of the four SCFC teams who participated in the tournament came home with medals. Well done, boys!
SCFC player in 2009 All-State First Team
Congratulations to Dhavan Vengadasalam, our SCFC 90 Blue player voted into the AP All-State Boys Soccer First Team. Dhavan just graduated from Auburn Mountainview High School and will be attending Whitman College in the fall. As captain of the school's Lions soccer team he led the team to their first ever 3A playoff berth, and he will continue to play soccer at Whitman. His SCFC team were WSPL Div 2 champions last fall. Dhavan is also an accomplished musician, tennis player and winner of Governor Gregoire's Volunteer Service Award. He's featured in this newspaper story about top graduates from the area. SCFC is proud of this young man from our soccer community!
SCFC's Robbie Schuck officiates at Regionals
SCFC 90 Blue player Robbie Schuck is also one of the top young referees in Washington state. Robbie (pictured at left) and his team finished their U-18 year on a high note by winning the WSPL Div 2 league, and many of the players will be moving on to college this fall. As a highly respected youth referee in the area, Robbie has been selected three times for the State's officiating contingent at the USYSA Far West Regional tournaments, and has also been invited to referee at other high level soccer events like the Manchester United Premier Cup. The SCFC Board has provided support for Robbie on his trips to the Regionals, and thanks him for being a mentor and great example for all our boys.

Congratulations to '93, '94 and '95 boys
Congratulations to the SCFC boys who took part as a combined team in the 2009 Kent Cornucopia Cup. The team, made mostly of U-15 players with the great leadership of a few U-16 players, managed to win the U-16 age group at the tournament. Thanks to coaches Mike and Nic for volunteering their time, and again to Nic for lending us the cool Club Deportivo Copala jerseys.
Congratulations also to SCFC '95 Blue, who were U-14 semi-finalists this year.
Good Luck at the Cornucopia Cup Tournament!
SCFC welcomes all the teams and families who are here to attend the Kent Cornucopia Cup tournament! We hope you have a great weekend of soccer and have a lot of fun here in the South King County community. Please don't hesitate to ask any of our tournament volunteer staff for help if you have any questions about the tournament, or just need directions to the fields (or to a good restaurant...)
Visit the Kent Cornucopia Cup tournament website for more information, including match schedules and updated scores. Good luck to your teams!
And don't forget there is a World Vision donation point at the tournament HQ at the Kent Pea Patch, where you can drop off your old but serviceable soccer balls and other equipment to be donated to needy children around the world!
